1989年至1997年期间,先后参加了国家八五、九五攻关项目,从事高性能耐高温高分子材料和复合材料的研究工作,并承担军工配套材料项目的工作,取得多项成果,曾获“国家八五攻关重大成果”奖,“教育部科技进步三等奖”。
从2001年起参加日本文部科学省重大项目聚乳酸合成及其化学再循环利用的相关研究,从事可生物降解高分子聚乳酸的合成,改性和分解性能和化学再利用的研究,开发了一类环境友好型催化体系。2004年进入日本国家材料研究所生物材料中心,利用可生物降解、可吸收高分子材料进行药物释放系统及组织工程的相关研究。
2006年回国加入四川大学生物材料工程研究中心及国家生物医学材料工程技术研究中心。作为项目负责人,先后主持国家高技术研究发展计划(863计划)重点项目1项,国家科技支撑计划项目2项,国家自然科学基金重点项目子课题1项,国家自然科学基金面上项目3项,及省部级科研项目等。
发表SCI论文80余篇,引用次数1000多次。申请中国发明专利30余项,授权10多项。申请日本专利3项,其中两项提出PCT国际专利申请,并在多个国家申请专利许可。开发胶原基软骨修复产品(处于临床阶段)和生物活性牙膏(预投产阶段)等产品。
